Design furniture - as it should be
In need of a professional gallery and working space, Borg Furniture was founded in 2020 by Jón Staekenborg.
In honor of Jóns Dutch family Staekenborg and his Icelandic family and with respect for Scandinavian and other great designers he chose the name ‘‘Borg Furniture’’.
Having spent a lot of time with his Icelandic grandmother in his youth, he learned to be critical, precise and always have an eye for style.
About
Jón Staekenborg
After finishing a music degree in trumpet and conducting, the need of creating something that lasts, next to making music, was strong.
My mom once said “We share the same interest in how things work, only I mostly destroy them forever, and you manage to fix everything.”
By coincidence I was introduced to the art of upholstery and restoration, and caught by this craftsmanship. This resulted in a two month internship, where I got the advice to “just” start on my own. So I am a self-taught upholsterer.
